Celebrating their 20th Anniversary, Portland, Oregon’s MarchFourth is a joy-inducing force of entertainment. On their new EP Worth It, they meld suave boogie, buoyant Tropicalia, brass-band funk, rock and jazz into a heady melodic stew that feeds our endless hunger for the
almighty groove. Widely recognized for their fantastical live show, Worth It was born to bring that magic to the masses. With exceptional musical quality and a visual kaleidoscope of performers, MarchFourth live is a spectacle of high-energy compositions, colorful costumes, and irresistible charisma.

Thematically, there wasn’t intention among primary composers Averill, Anthony Meade (trombone, vocals), and Paul Chandler (trumpet, percussion, vocals) to follow a particular narrative theme. Yet, listening to the finished record one can detect a thread of interrelation;
indeed, many of the songs stand as a response to contemporary reality. “Ultimately”, says Averill, “this is a record about following your own path towards truth and soul amid an environment that is being threatened with extinction, and examining the causes of that: ego,
fear, and their by-products (such as greed and short-sightedness).”
Crafted intentionally to concentrate their live mojo into eminently engaging bite-sized sonic confections, Worth It is truly lightning in a bottle. Pop the cork – it’s time to party!
